The Business Leaders’ Network will give you the opportunity to hear from inspiring advisers, academics and successful business owners whilst also facilitating a Q&A session where you can direct any questions to the panel.
The event will see Jonathan Main, VAT and Indirect Taxes Partner at MHA Moore and Smalley discuss Brexit and our future trading relationship with the EU. An economic update will also be provided by Nick Stamenkovic, Economist and Strategist working for NatWest’s Economic, Strategy & Corporate Development Team. The webinar will conclude with a Q & A session where you can direct any questions to the panel.

2.45 – 3.15pm: Q&A
Jonathan will focus on Brexit, as we should have clarity on our future relationship with the EU after the end of the Transition Period on 31 December 2020. He will provide a practical explanation of our trading relationship from 1 January 2021. He will walk through the steps that businesses can take to ensure that the flow of goods between the UK and the EU happens as smoothly as possible in the new world. Jonathan will also provide a brief overview of potential changes to VAT and other indirect taxes once we are no longer bound by EU Directives governing the operation of indirect taxes in the UK. In summary, his presentation will give you the tools you need to face the future outside the EU.
Nick has worked for a variety of financial institutions in the UK as an economist/strategist, primarily banks. Day to day Nick’s main focus is on key events in global economies and financial markets with a bias towards fixed income, interest rates and exchange rates. He will discuss the impact of Covid-19 on the UK economy, the policy response and the medium-term outlook for the UK economy. Finally, we will end with a Q&A session where attendees will have an opportunity to direct their questions to our panel.
The event is aimed at the owners and leaders of businesses based in Lancashire and Cumbria. This event is free to attend online but advance booking is essential to reserve a place.
