Burnley based, CheckedSafe, have been crowned Transport Supplier of the Year at the National Transport Awards 2019. The company, founded in 2014 by solicitor, Darran Harris, and transport consultant, Gary Hawthorne, provides a SaaS digital compliance platform, originally created for the transport industry.
After the duo represented a transport operator at a Public Inquiry, it became clear that the market was ripe for innovation as many companies at that time managed their compliance using paper-based systems.
By using existing technology, the handheld smart phone, it enabled compliance, mandatory and legally required daily walk round checks to be done digitally. The back-office portal is accessed from any internet-enabled device meaning that most customers don’t need to spend thousands of pounds to comply with the law. With the cost starting from just £1 per week per vehicle or £1 per user, it enables even the smallest of companies to have bespoke software at modest cost whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant H&S regulations.
Over the past 5 years the technology has continued to evolve and CheckedSafe have since diversified into all areas of Health & Safety. As their customer base has grown, they’ve continued to listen to their needs. Geo-locating, timings, and use of the accelerometer in smartphones mean customers can manage the activities of users and make effective use of finite resources. The full document and reminder service, group messaging, geo-fencing & tracking, and wild card searches are just some examples of features that have been added after listening to their customers.
Darran Harris commented; “CheckedSafe has come a long way in 5 years. We are now unashamedly market leaders in digital compliance. We have won several local, national and one international award which is testament to the innovative nature of our product and the impact we are making on the industry. We are growing month on month because we continually develop our product by listening to our customers. Because we are agile and slick with such development, we can remain one step ahead of our competitors.”
